To take reservations or not to take reservations? That is the question! My wife and I guess its better to take reservations than to not take reservations. Not taking reservations may scare some people away from not even trying to come to the restaurant at all. So, if we take reservations, those people will come to the restaurant knowing they have a reservation. The next problem then is turning people away when there are empty tables, saying “those tables are reserved”. Hopefully, the people being turned away under these circumstances will take this as a learning experience and will then make reservations the next time they want to eat at Harry’s Hideaway. That is hopefully because they may not come back at all, but that is the way we’ve decided to go. Just the other night, we had a full restaurant except for one table of four that we were holding for a reservation in 45 minutes. All the other tables just got seated when a party of four came in and we told them that we needed that table for a reservation in 45 minutes. They said “no problem, we’ll be in and out” and when they were still lingering there when the party of four showed up for their reservation we were kind of perturbed and wondering what to do. Thankfully, other customers noted the predicament and took desserts to go freeing up their tables, which we pushed together to give to the waiting party of four. Its great that a lot of our customers are so understanding. Thank you!
